I had a sister named Shiela who passed away in August 24, 2008. I had a grandmother and family pet dog who also passed away a few years earlier in 2004, but my sister’s death finally left me blank. I never felt the need to share my life story until now. I remember the good and bad memories of my life. Emotions I feel that need to be told in hope of helping others in their life. My sister had an accidental death that left many questions unanswered. She never made it to 26 years old. The picture below was taken in July 20, 2008. She is carrying her goddaughter who is also my niece. The last time we happily bonded together she was driving in her car and copied my laugh.

Depression may have been partially the cause of Shiela’s death. Depression exists in many different levels and it could hit anyone anywhere at anytime. I believe she died by active suicide. She may have overdosed on drugs and then passed away during her sleep at a friend’s house. Her life was shorter than mine because I am the younger brother and now 26 years old. My parents were left with the funeral costs while Shiela’s ex-girlfriend runs away and hides with the life insurance money who refuses to be in contact. I’m more annoyed by the fact that Shiela’s ex-girlfriend had nothing to say at the funeral. They were already separated and were not living together when Shiela passed away.

My parents are most likely having the hardest time dealing with this life situation. They probably worry about my life also. I believe there is nothing closer than family and the people you live with. My parents practically go to church and visit Shiela’s grave almost every week. I don’t go to church as often as I used to. I think Shiela would have wanted to visit the Philippines with our family when we traveled overseas last year in November 2009. Friends and relatives I have never met in Philippines before since coming to Australia when I was four years old. I have been an Australian citizen since 1992 and did all my school studies in Melbourne. Shiela never saw her Diploma after graduating her course.

There are a few things that Shiela left behind in our house, but I doubt will be going anywhere anytime soon. Our third family pet dog is called Foxy. He’s been with us for a few years and also lived with Shiela for a while when she had her own home. Once I think about it Shiela had a very unstable life. I didn’t really get to know many of her friends since I had my own life to deal with. I don’t really want to put any blame on anyone as I’m already over that stage. So the least I can do is share my side of the story. It may not be about your life, but I’m pretty sure you can relate.
